Ho-deuk has persistently sought to transcend the materiality of ink itself. To this end, he has even employed installation-based approaches to experiment with ink as a medium, distilling the purity of space and time embedded within ink\u2019s tonal spectrum. Through this process, he established two distinctive categories of ink art\u2014\u201cSound Ink\u201d and \u201cForm Ink\u201d\u2014a pioneering achievement unrivaled within the field of Korean contemporary ink painting.<\/p>\n<p>His works are widely collected by major institutions, including the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, Korea, Leeum, Samsung Museum of Art, Daegu Art Museum, as well as the POSCO Art Museum and OCI Museum of Art.<\/p>\n<p>In this solo exhibition at Yi&amp;C Contemporary Art Space, titled The Realm of Ink, Kim presents two bodies of work that mark a pivotal turning point in his artistic practice. The first, Sound Ink Realm, translates emotional states\u2014perceived by the body as audible sensations\u2014into visual expression. The second, Form Ink Realm, dynamically renders pictorial forms as they move through time and space, transforming two-dimensional imagery into temporal and spatial experiences.
