During the vibrant Taipei Art Week, Yi&C. proudly collaborates with Tina Keng Gallery to present the joint exhibition: “Solitude on the Horizon.”
Inspired by the profound poetics of Rainer Maria Rilke, the exhibition brings together works on paper by five legendary artists, staging a timeless philosophical dialogue across eras and mediums:
Sanyu ｜ Yun Gee ｜ Zao Wou-Ki ｜ Wang Pan-Youn ｜ Su Xiaobai
Though shaped by distinct historical contexts and creative trajectories, each artist grounded their work in Western artistic mediums while infusing it with Eastern philosophy and spiritual depth.
From the seamless convergence of Eastern and Western sensibilities by Sanyu and Yun Gee in their early Paris years, to the abstract, ink-infused cosmos Zao Wou-Ki unfurled on paper; from the poetic desolation constructed through Wang Pan-Youn’s minimalist negative space, to Su Xiaobai’s synthesis of lacquer and oil in an exploration of contemporary material philosophy—these artists distilled individual existential contemplation and profound solitude into the intimacy of works on paper, weaving an enduring spiritual panorama across the aesthetic horizon.
